Description

Mold-on rubber wheels have standard rubber tires molded onto heavy duty cast iron cores. Mold-on rubber is quiet, absorbs shock (prolonging equipment life and protecting cargo), rolls easily over small objects, protects costly floor surfaces from damage, and minimizes vibration. On the other hand, mold on rubber is not as durable and not as abrasion resistant as harder treads, and it will not handle very heavy loads. Under heavy loads rubber tends to flatten out and as such does not roll as easily. Rubber wheels should not be left standing under a heavy load for extended periods of time since the tires may take a permanent “set” or develop flat spots. The virtue of rubber wheels is that relative to harder treads they can be used on almost any dry factory floor with minimal fear of damage to the floors. The bonding agent which holds the rubber tire to its iron center can be affected by exposure to some chemicals, impact, overloading, and the buildup of heat.
