Description

Cast iron wheels are made from premium cast iron – also called semi-steel, pig iron, and grey iron. It is a tough, long wearing material, but it does not have the impact strength of ductile or forged steel, even though it will withstand shock and impact in all but the most severe applications. They are recommended for use on steel and hardened smooth concrete floors, but on untreated concrete with heavy loads they tend to cause rapid floor deterioration. Although the treads are machined smooth to minimize floor wear, iron wheels are not recommended in applications where floor protection is required. They are much more economical than ductile and forged wheels. Cast iron wheels are ideal for use in manufacturing facilities, warehouses, and general material handling applications.
