Description
Phenolic wheels are made from a macerated canvas core impregnated with phenolic resin, molded under high pressure and temperature. They are very hard, comparable to a plastic cue ball, and extremely durable for a plastic wheel. Pound for pound they will handle as much weight as a cast iron wheel, but they may chip with impact upon steel surfaces such as the edges of diamond plate and metal debris, Phenolic wheels are recommended for smooth concrete floors. Unlike steel wheels they will not damage concrete, but they also do not wear as well. They are resistant to oil, gasoline, grease, and mild acids. They are not recommended for excessively wet applications; when the treads wear and the canvas core is exposed, they will absorb water and degrade.
